This movie takes a great pivot from the introduction of Caesar and the intelligent apes. Takes a flawless continuation from the last movie and takes on a plot of endogenous conflict between Koba and Caesar. As I truly find myself one with Caesars ideology and leadership. I do understand Koba’s persistence on eliminating threats which humans cause. This makes total sense as Caesar was raised with kind humans so he understand their compassion. Koba on the other hand has only seen humans in a negative light, being tested on his whole life, this feels like a sense of revenge. A highlight from this movie is Koba’s acting to trick the guards and stealing their weapons. Truly and eerie scene mimicking a dumb ape but truly he is playing the humans like a fiddle. There were moments where I thought I could cheer on for Koba because tough situations call for tough decisions in which Koba is taking a risky lead in. I do agree that even if Caesar made an agreement with the humans, they would come after them after they get stronger with restoring electricity and their tech. The ONLY downside I have to say is what a large sense of cruelty Koba had after taking over. I really think that he could’ve been a greater antagonist if he made more sensible decisions. This leads me to another highlight of the film when he dragged Ash and threw him off the balcony, truly a horrifying scene. I watched this movie 10 years ago when it came out and rewatching it in 2024, that is the ONLY scene I remember. Overall Caesar lead a great ending and made an amazing point that apes started the war but humans will NEVER forget, symbolizing what war hungry animals we really are.
